Adobro Album Release Party

Some nights remind you why you started, and this was one of them. On Sunday, July 12, we packed up the kitchen and set up as a food vendor at Adobro's debut album release party for Right Here, Right Now at the legendary Antone's Nightclub in Austin — a free, one-night-only celebration of Filipino culture, live country music, and a whole lot of "Mabuhowdy" energy.

If you've followed Katya for a while, you know we're an Austin cottage food kitchen built around authentic, made-from-scratch Filipino food. Getting to serve our community at a night like this — surrounded by Filipino-Texan music, dance, and neighbors — is exactly the kind of thing we're here for.

What we served

Here's the full Katya lineup we brought to Antone's that night. If you missed it, this is what to ask us for next time:

• Triple Treat Lumpia — our signature take on the Filipino spring roll, hand-rolled and fried crisp.
• Chix Lumpia — a lighter chicken lumpia, crunchy on the outside and savory all the way through.
• Mamu's Veggie Lumpia — the vegetarian favorite, named for Mamu and made the way she taught us.
• Saucy Canton — our pancit canton: stir-fried noodles tossed in a rich, savory sauce, the plate everyone reaches for.
• Porky Adobo — pork slow-braised in soy, vinegar, and garlic until it falls apart, served over rice with our sweet & sour sauce.
• Mango Sticky Rice — sweet, golden, and the perfect way to end the night.

The night at Antone's

Adobro is an Austin-based Filipino-American country artist, and Right Here, Right Now is his debut album — released the same day as the party. The show leaned all the way into his "Mabuhowdy" spirit, a mash-up of mabuhay and howdy where island roots meet Texas boots.

Beyond the music, the night was a genuine celebration of the Filipino community here in Austin. The crowd was treated to a Tinikling performance by the ATX Filipino Cultural Dance Troupe, an opening set by singer-songwriter Katrina Cain, and a Filipino vendor market — with a portion of the evening going to earthquake relief efforts in the Philippines. Being part of that, and feeding people while it all happened, meant a lot to us.

Who is Katya?

Katya is a Filipino cottage food kitchen based in Austin, TX. We cook the food we grew up on — lumpia, adobo, pancit, and more — from scratch, in small batches, and we bring it to markets, pop-ups, and community events like this one across the city. Every plate we serve is a step toward our bigger dream, and nights like Adobro's are what keep that dream moving.
